Cement Mason Job Summary

American Civil Constructors West Coast LLC is seeking a skilled Cement Mason to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for smoothing out, leveling, and finishing freshly poured concrete at job or construction sites.

Key Responsibilities:

• Smooth out concrete in segments to ensure the concrete poured is level.
• Filling roadways, driveways, sidewalks, bridges, homes, and parking lots.
• Arranging the concrete forms.
• Spreading concrete.
• Preparing the surface with a hammer and chisel.
• Smoothing the cement with a sponge-rubber float or burlap.
• Leveling it using special blades, making sure all lumps and bubbles are smoothed over.
• Using wood or plastic forms to shape the concrete and hold it until it is set.
• Smoothing high spots and filling depressions.
• Making concrete beams, columns, and panels.
• Washing away excess concrete.
• Finishing corners by hand.
• Applying latex and epoxy to floors.
• Using machines that vibrate concrete to fill air pockets.
• Using groovers and hand trowels to spread concrete.
• Halting concrete pouring if weather looks bad.
• Preparing the base.
• Cutting pavers.
• Installing masonry according to specifications.
• Pouring sand in as filler.
• Using chemical additives to speed up the drying process if necessary.

Requirements:

• Occupational health and safety rules and working practices applicable to this position.
• All types of concrete work, including form work, use of epoxy, rubbers, and magnasite.
