Job Summary:

This position performs a variety of dynamic ultrasound procedures, adhering to established protocols for gathering the desired history and other imaging studies that add value to ultrasound studies. The ideal candidate will prepare exam rooms and tray setups for invasive procedures, producing high-quality diagnostic scans. Effective communication with other staff and physician offices is crucial to ensure accuracy in order information and create a collaborative atmosphere.

Minimum Job Requirements:
  • Associate of Science Degree in Radiology or Sonography
  • Registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or the ARRT(S)(BS) within two years of employment
  • CPR certification or completion of the next available class upon hire
Preferred Job Requirements:
  • Registration by the ARDMS or ARRT(S)(BS)
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities:

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and guests, as well as co-workers, managers, and regulatory agencies. Interpersonal skills are necessary to carry out duties in a professional manner, and the ability to work well under stress is essential. Developed computer skills and the ability to learn and proficiently perform computer applications related to department operations and job function are also required. Excellent customer service skills, with a focus on patient-centered care, are necessary. Analytical and problem-solving skills are also required, as is the ability to maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive information.

Working Conditions:

This role is typically performed in a hospital clinical environment, requiring frequent standing and walking. Work may be subject to interruptions, and there is a risk of occupational exposure to blood and other potentially infectious, electrical, and radiation hazards. The successful candidate will work with protected health information and be able to work any shift, including occasional extended hours, holidays, and weekends, based on the needs of the department.

Physical and Mental Activities, Tools, and Equipment:

The successful candidate will require standing, walking, stooping, bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling to provide patient care and utilize patient care devices safely. They will also use computer and other standard office equipment, as well as patient care tools and equipment related to the area of clinical specialty.
