Job Summary

St. Joseph's Health is seeking a skilled Phlebotomy Technician to join our team. As a Phlebotomy Technician, you will be responsible for collecting blood samples from patients in various settings, including in-patient and out-patient facilities. Your expertise will play a critical role in ensuring accurate patient and specimen identification, as well as accurate laboratory test requests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect blood samples from infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients in both in-patient and out-patient settings.
  • Perform electrocardiograms on patients of various ages.
  • Conduct therapeutic phlebotomy from patients in an out-patient setting.
  • Ensure accurate patient and specimen identification in all required documentation and labeling.
  • Enter laboratory test requests into computer information systems and fax laboratory reports as needed.
  • Answer telephone calls and direct them as appropriate.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • EKG training or prior experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Additional certification of completion of a phlebotomy training program is preferred.
