We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Superintendent to join our team at Gilbane. As a key member of our project team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our construction projects, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the work of trade contractors and their sub-contractors to ensure high-quality work and meet project schedules
  • Manage project budgets for general conditions and site services
  • Develop and document work plans for changes made in the field
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of contract documents to anticipate potential problems
  • Obtain or verify necessary permits for construction purposes
  • Verify safety compliance with all trades and enforce quality control policies
  • Conduct maintenance and planning of work-arounds, shutdowns, and tie-ins
  • Establish credibility among owners, trade contractors, and unions by maintaining a fair and trustworthy environment
  • Lead contractor meetings and oversee daily reports and documentation using Procore
  • Create, manage, and update project schedules and implement contingency plans when necessary
  • Communicate schedule status, updates, and changes to the project team and trade contractors
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage jobsite logistics
  • Oversee project quality plans and implement necessary changes
  • Resolve jurisdictional disputes and aid in the development of the project team

Requirements

  • BS or MS degree in Engineering or Construction Management
  • Years of experience on $50+ million healthcare construction projects
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong technical and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing needs
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Procore
  • Construction-document and drawing literate, with knowledge of all phases of construction
  • OSHA 30 hour certified
