Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Physicist to join our team at Advocate Health. As a key member of our Radiation Oncology Department, you will be responsible for providing physics services to ensure the highest standards of practice and compliance with regulatory agencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Physics Services: Provide operational aspects of Medical Physics, including preparation and delivery of continuing education to radiation oncology staff, acceptance testing and performance verification of x-ray equipment, and coordination of maintenance of instrumentation required for quality control, image quality, and patient treatment measurements.
  • Calibration and Quality Assurance: Perform calibration of radioactive sources and radiation producing equipment, and develop and implement QC programs and policies for radiation equipment and patient treatment.
  • Research and Development: Stay abreast of new radiotherapeutic treatment delivery and treatment delivery techniques, and participate in continuous practice improvement.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Assist in planning for resource allocation with radiation oncology, radiology, and other areas that use radiation producing equipment, and implement, maintain, and supervise radiation safety aspects within the radiation oncology department.
Requirements
  • MS or PhD in Medical Physics or Physics, with completion of a CAMPEP accredited residency in Therapeutic Medical Physics or 3 years of clinical experience.
  • Eligible for board certification by the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Medical Physics.
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and presentation skills, with a strong understanding of radiation rules and regulations on a State and Federal level.
Working Conditions

This position requires travel to other clinical sites, irregular and/or extended working hours, and the ability to lift up to 20-50 pounds occasionally and/or 10-25 pounds frequently and up to 10 pounds constantly.
