Job Summary and Qualifications
The Clinical Laboratory Technologist is accountable for executing automated, semi-automated, and/or manual procedures in the analysis of specimens. This role requires a solid understanding of techniques and proficiency in various fields including bacteriology, parasitology, mycology, hematology, serology, chemistry, immunology, immunohematology, and flow cytometry as required for the position.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology from an accredited institution and successful completion of a national certification examination approved by the State Board; OR
- Completion of three years of academic study, with a minimum of 90 semester hours at an accredited college or university in a curriculum involving biological or physical science and at least 12 months of training at a school of medical technology approved by a national accrediting agency, followed by passing a national certification examination; OR
- A bachelor's degree in one of the chemical, physical, or biological sciences from an accredited college or university and at least one year of additional full-time experience or training in the specialty or subspecialty in which testing is performed, along with passing a national certification examination approved by the State Board; OR
- Pass an examination administered by the Department of Health and Human Services.
- ASCP or equivalent certification, along with current State of Nevada certification as a General Supervisor.
- Experience as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in a large clinical laboratory and pediatric hospital setting is preferred.
