MRI Technologist II

POSITION SUMMARY:
The MRI Technologist II is responsible for conducting magnetic resonance imaging procedures to capture detailed images of the body's internal structures. This role is essential in aiding healthcare professionals in diagnosing various medical conditions.
Under the supervision of a Radiologist, MRI Technologists execute diagnostic imaging exams while adhering to established protocols and safety standards. They provide comprehensive patient care across all age demographics, including infants, children, adults, and seniors, ensuring compliance with magnetic safety regulations.
The technologist demonstrates proficiency in advanced MRI techniques and possesses a thorough understanding of cross-sectional anatomy and physiology. They are equipped to deliver complex technical care tailored to meet specific patient requirements.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program is mandatory.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
A minimum of two years of experience as a Radiology Technologist, alongside 2-3 years of experience specifically in MRI technology, is required.
LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION:
Must hold registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology in Radiography (R) (MR) and possess advanced certification in MRI (MR).
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Current BLS certification is required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Exhibit expertise in performing a variety of MRI procedures on patients of all ages, ensuring proper positioning and protocol selection.
- Deliver high-quality care to patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional radiology procedures.
- Maintain proficiency in all non-scanner related tasks.
- Strictly adhere to established imaging protocols for each examination.
- Conduct quality control measures in line with ACR guidelines.
- Provide age-appropriate care in accordance with established standards.
- Educate patients and communicate effectively based on prescribed practices.
- Act as a mentor for students and junior technologists.
- Perform advanced imaging procedures, including Breast Biopsies, Prostate Imaging, Functional Brain Imaging, and Cardiac assessments.
- Assist in the execution and scheduling of multiple diagnostic procedures efficiently.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
A comprehensive understanding of cross-sectional anatomy is essential. The technologist must be capable of conducting quality MRI examinations in compliance with all relevant standards. Commitment to delivering safe care in alignment with the Alwaysafe program is crucial. Additionally, the ability to instruct fellow technologists on equipment usage and apply AIDET principles in every interaction is expected.
