About the Position

We are seeking a Cognitive Wellness Specialist to join our team at The View Alexandria. As a Cognitive Wellness Specialist, you will be responsible for planning and facilitating engaging, brain-healthy activities for our Day Program Club participants.

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in recreation therapy, creative arts therapy, or a related field, or 5 years of experience working with older adults with cognitive change. You should be proficient with computers, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Zoom.

A minimum of 1-year experience working with older adults, including those with cognitive impairments and/or dementia, is required. Additionally, you should have the ability to deal tactfully and effectively with residents, staff, family members, and the public.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and facilitate daily activities, including cognitive exercises, physical activities, arts and crafts, music, and social gatherings.
  • Create daily PowerPoints, schedules, and handouts as needed to guide and support program activities.
  • Assess the effectiveness of activities regularly, adapting based on participant feedback and observed engagement.
  • Engage directly with participants, offering individualized support to promote engagement, emotional well-being, and enjoyment throughout each activity.
