Job Summary:
Hy-Vee Food Stores is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team at the Lomar Distribution Center. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing tractor-trailer problems, including diesel engines, brakes, and electrical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, brakes, and electrical systems
- Conduct inspections on equipment to meet federal guidelines
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used
- Respond to service calls on the road to repair breakdowns
- Perform minor repairs to building and service equipment
- Perform tire work and other job-related duties as required
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Additional trade school or equivalent experience necessary
- Courses of technical certification in automotive maintenance helpful
- Valid CDL license required
- Over six months up to one-year similar or related work experience
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to dirt, noise, temperature, extremes, dampness, vibrations, equipment movement hazards, dangerous chemical or solvents, and electrical shock
- Occasional travel and overtime required
Equipment Used:
- Standard tools and equipment used for truck maintenance and repair
- Welders, electrical analyzers, and computerized inventory system
Financial Responsibility:
- Failure to perform job duties correctly could cause damages in excess of $100,000.00
