Job Title: Diesel Mechanic

Job Summary:

Hy-Vee Food Stores is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team at the Lomar Distribution Center. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing tractor-trailer problems, including diesel engines, brakes, and electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair diesel engines, brakes, and electrical systems
  • Conduct inspections on equipment to meet federal guidelines
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used
  • Respond to service calls on the road to repair breakdowns
  • Perform minor repairs to building and service equipment
  • Perform tire work and other job-related duties as required

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Additional trade school or equivalent experience necessary
  • Courses of technical certification in automotive maintenance helpful
  • Valid CDL license required
  • Over six months up to one-year similar or related work experience

Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to dirt, noise, temperature, extremes, dampness, vibrations, equipment movement hazards, dangerous chemical or solvents, and electrical shock
  • Occasional travel and overtime required

Equipment Used:

  • Standard tools and equipment used for truck maintenance and repair
  • Welders, electrical analyzers, and computerized inventory system

Financial Responsibility:

  • Failure to perform job duties correctly could cause damages in excess of $100,000.00
