Responsibilities- Set goals on an individual basis and select specific activities and exercises to assist in consumer progress.
- Develop communication, cognitive, motor, emotional, and social skills through various techniques, including singing, listening, instrumental music composition, creative movement, and guided imagery.
- Provide written documentation of services and submit documentation in a timely fashion, maintaining a prescribed level of productivity.
- Maintain a high degree of professionalism at all times, especially when communicating, engaging, and interacting with individuals, parents, staff, and providers.
- Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action and deal tactfully with clients, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
- Accept supervision, feedback from leadership, and work harmoniously with others.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest trends in therapeutic interventions, treatments, technology, literature, practices, and regulations.
- Participate in team meetings on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis and contribute to the therapeutic team.
- Learn and maintain a strong knowledge base around the function and maintenance of tools, audio visuals, and musical instruments, as well as safety procedures within the department.
- Bachelor's Degree in Music Therapy or Completion of an approved Music Therapy Equivalency Program.
- Board Certification in Music Therapy (MT-BC).
- 6 months of experience working in the area of Music Therapy.
- Complete all assigned training, including the successful completion of the IFSSA/DDARS waiver training module.
- Full, part-time, and as-needed schedules available.
