Job Summary

As a Project Engineer II at Sunbelt Controls, you will play a critical role in the execution of daily project requirements and activities. Under general supervision from the Project Manager, you will exercise independent judgment and discretion to manage on and off-site project execution, while responding to customer demands. Value engineering, cost reduction, and risk mitigation are essential requirements of each assigned project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain personal intellectual and technical product knowledge specific to the needs of the business and projects.
  • Produce controls systems design drawings, sequence of operations, and submittals for lower-level control systems, while supporting senior-level design engineers for mid-level control systems.
  • Research and select control system peripherals and end devices as necessary.
  • Read and interpret project construction drawings and specifications to ensure scope compliance.
  • Provide value engineering and cost reduction solutions to the Project Manager.
  • Manage the project's material procurement process, coordinate shipments, and maintain material usage, cost, and inventory control.
  • Perform modification of previously produced controls designs to reflect field changes made during implementation.
  • Manage and provide documentation for the project file, including correspondence, requests for information, change orders, logs, and project schedules.
  • Manage change orders and upsell scope as required.
  • Oversee project construction for compliance with specifications, codes, material, installation techniques, safety activities, and Sunbelt standards.
  • Develop and maintain internal project construction schedules using 3rd party software programs.
  • Manage 3rd party commissioning requirements on assigned projects.
  • Manage the project closeout process and turnover of documentation to the Engineering group and/or PM.
  • Coordinate all aspects of installation subcontractor scope of work while maintaining project schedule.
  • Complete the project warranty transition process and coordinate an on-site visit for service personnel.
  • Manage time and cost budgets for assigned project tasks.
  • Communicate effectively with project team members, trade contractors, and General Contractors concerning problems, obstacles, issues, and information needs from the field.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Construction Management preferred, or 4-8 years of related work and engineering experience in the Controls or Construction Industry.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and technical school training.
  • Ability to read construction blueprints and electrical schematics.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, Windows, File Structure, AutoCAD, VISIO, and basic TCP/IP network structure and web navigation.
  • Highly organized with the ability to work in a high-paced environment and prioritize tasks to meet schedules given by Sunbelt leadership.
  • Effective work delegation techniques and ability to provide constructive work instructions to Sunbelt, subcontractor, and other vendor personnel.
  • Ability to operate independently and autonomously, taking ownership of all assigned tasks.
  • Valid California driver's license.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
