Job Responsibilities:
The Laboratory Supervisor will oversee the activities of assigned personnel engaged in various phases of laboratory testing. This role includes:
- Supervising and coordinating the workflow of laboratory staff.
- Assisting in the hiring, training, and evaluation of laboratory personnel.
- Developing and implementing policies and procedures to enhance laboratory operations.
- Addressing staffing concerns and communicating them to management promptly.
- Managing inventory to ensure adequate supplies are available.
- Implementing quality assurance programs and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Knowledge of laboratory regulations and procedures.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Effective communication abilities.
- Proficiency in laboratory protocols and safety standards.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
Essential Skills:
Candidates must demonstrate:
- Capability to make informed decisions regarding staff allocation and task direction.
- Experience in performance evaluation and staff training.
- General computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and electronic documentation systems.
Required Certifications:
Must possess one of the following certifications:
- ASCP-Blood Banking Technologist (ASCP-BB)
- ASCP-Chemistry Technologist (ASCP-C)
- ASCP-Cytogenetics Technologist (ASCP-CG)
- ASCP-Cytologist (ASCP-CT)
- ASCP-Hematology Technologist (ASCP-H)
- ASCP-Histotechnician (ASCP-HT)
- ASCP-Histotechnologist (ASCP-HTL)
- ASCP-Microbiology Technologist (ASCP-M)
- Molecular Biology Technologist (ASCP-MB)
- ASCP-Blood Banking Specialist (ASCP-SBB)
- ASCP-Chemistry Specialist (ASCP-SC)
Education & Experience:
A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience along with a minimum of 4 years in a laboratory setting is required.
