About this Position

As a Service Technician at Carrier, you will play a vital role in ensuring customer satisfaction, embodying the trust we uphold while maintaining their comfort. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain expertise in Commercial HVAC systems, engaging in a range of installation, repair, and maintenance tasks. You will collaborate with a team, showcasing your ability to work both independently and collectively. This role is ideal for individuals who are dedicated to their craft and eager to elevate their technical skills.

Carrier values its partnerships with Union workers and is dedicated to compensating for all travel time incurred. Additionally, we provide an on-call schedule that promotes a healthy work-life balance, with rotations occurring every 7-8 weeks in most locations.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • A valid driver's license is mandatory
  • Eligibility for the Union Apprentice Program or current enrollment
  • Ability to push/pull/lift up to 50lbs
Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspect air-conditioning units to guarantee optimal performance
  • Conduct routine maintenance on heating and cooling systems
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues
  • Install, replace, or repair faulty equipment; calibrate thermostatic controls
  • Install new HVAC systems; repair or replace damaged components; manage low- and high-pressure liquid lines
  • Monitor liquid and vapor pressures using instruments to ensure efficient unit operation and make necessary adjustments; service refrigeration equipment including refrigerators, ice machines, gas packs, and heat pumps
  • Maintain chilled and hot water supply systems
  • Adjust and maintain internal electrical and electronic control systems; clean coils, blowers, check motors, and belt tensions
  • Assemble and install metal ductwork
  • Assist in planning and designing new HVAC installations
  • Maintain maintenance records as required by local, state, and EPA regulations
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks and hazards associated with job responsibilities
  • Collaborate with management to uphold safe working environments
Knowledge Required:
  • Principles and practices of HVAC maintenance and repair; safety protocols relevant to the trade
  • HVAC controls and safety devices; proper use of Safety Data Sheets (SDSs); tools and materials used in HVAC systems
  • Understanding of computerized electrical circuits and systems related to HVAC
  • Familiarity with sheet metal, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry
  • Basic knowledge of building automation controls
