**Job Summary**
We are seeking a skilled Pastry Cook to join our team at King's Hawaiian. As a Pastry Cook, you will be responsible for preparing a variety of pastry items to meet production requirements.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Prepare assigned pastry items per production requirements.
- Record daily inventory of all responsible production items.
- Able to read and follow recipes with correct execution.
- General knowledge of basic kitchen equipment.
- Organize the storage of finished production items, following FIFO.
- Keep work area clean, organized, and safe.
- Sweep and mop station when necessary.
- Communicate any shortages or low ingredients to supervisors during production if needed.
- Follow all sanitation guidelines as prescribed by the health department.
- Wear slip-resistant shoes, use proper lifting techniques.
- Plan and carry out job assignments without creating hazards to oneself and other employees.
- Ability to train and execute other positions within the Commissary when assigned.
**Requirements:**
- Proficient in English with clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in a pastry department preferred.
- Valid CA Food Handler Certificate.
- Self-motivated with the ability to see what is needed to be done with little direction.
- Able to prioritize tasks with a teamwork focus.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment.
- Ability to arrive to work on-time for all assigned shifts including mornings, weekends, holidays, and overtime when required.
- Able to stand, walk, climb stairs throughout shift. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds on occasion.
