Diagnostic Cytologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Cytologist to join our team at The University of Iowa. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, where you will be responsible for performing laboratory procedures such as cell recognition, identification, and interpretation.

As a Diagnostic Cytologist, you will be working closely with our experienced team of professionals to provide high-quality patient care. You will be responsible for examining cytologic specimens, including gynecologic, non-gynecologic, and fine-needle aspirations (FNA's), to render preliminary and final cytologic impressions.

You will also be required to perform specimen procedures, ensure lab compliance with accrediting agencies' regulations, and follow guidelines for quality control. Additionally, you will be expected to provide cytotechnology orientation to other professional personnel and pathology residents as requested.

• Perform microscopic examination of slides on cytologic specimens, rendering preliminary and final cytologic impressions.
• Perform specimen procedures for gynecologic, non-gynecologic, and histologic specimens as needed.
• Ensure the lab is in compliance with all regulations of accrediting agencies.
• Follow guidelines for quality control.
• Provide cytotechnology orientation to other professional personnel and pathology residents as requested.

• Bachelor's degree and completion of an accredited cytotechnology program.
• Registered or eligible for registration by the American Society of Clinical Pathology.
• Demonstrated proficiency in communication, working well with others, and experience working in a health center.
