Job Overview

The Children's Connection Associate is a part-time hourly position that provides group therapy programming services and activities for children, youth, and their families affected by incarceration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote and facilitate support groups for school-aged children who have had or have an incarcerated loved one.
  • Identify red flags in group dynamics and strategize to address issues.
  • Act as a liaison between Family Connection and the Sioux Falls School District.
  • Provide information and make presentations about Children's Connection to school counselors and teachers.
  • Participate in Children's Connection staff meetings.
  • Provide referrals to outside agencies for children and families needing additional assistance.
  • Complete paperwork and reports in a timely manner.

Requirements:

  • Degree in social work, family therapy, counseling, or other equivalent.
  • Knowledge and understanding of clinical social work and mental health counseling principles, methods, procedures, and standards.
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques.
  • Knowledge of community mental health resources.
  • Compassionate and accessible approach with youth.
  • Strong sense of discretion and professionalism.
  • Ability to work independently.

Compensation: Up to $25/hour depending on qualifications.
