Job Title: Special Education Instructional Assistant

The BASIS Baton Rouge Materra school is seeking a dedicated candidate for a Paraprofessional position to start as soon as possible.

About the Role:

This Special Education Instructional Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting students with exceptionalities, maintaining effective communication with the ESS Coordinator and/or SPED teacher and general education teachers.

The ideal candidate will provide paraprofessional support for individual student(s) or small groups with autism, developmental delay, intellectual disability, specific learning disability, emotional disability, etc.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support students with disabilities in general education, small group settings, or 1:1 settings.
  • Encourage positive behavior expectations and reinforce them consistently.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records and progress information at all times.
  • Assist the ESS Coordinator/SPED Teacher in preparing resource materials for individual students/small groups.
  • Provide regular progress reporting information to the ESS Coordinator/SPED Teacher.
  • Collaborate with the ESS Coordinator/SPED Teacher in implementing individualized education programs Plans (IEP).
  • Reteach concepts introduced by special education teachers and ensure their understanding.
  • Perform administrative and clerical tasks to support the ESS Coordinator/SPED Teacher.
  • Maintain regular, full, predictable attendance and be punctual for all duties.
  • Potential site designee to provide CPI or TACT-2 (verbal de-escalation and/or physical restraint).
Requirements:
  • A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and work experience is required.
  • A valid Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card and/or satisfactory applicable state background check is mandatory.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is expected.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's Degree can be advantageous.
  • Certifications and Credentials such as passing scores on applicable paraprofessional exams, CPI or TACT-2 are highly valued.
  • At least one year of experience in related special education job duties is preferred.
Compensation Package:

The salary range for this position is between $35,000 - $45,000 per annum, depending on education and experience. Additionally, BASIS Ed offers a comprehensive benefits package, including but not limited to:
