Firefighter Volunteer

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Volunteer Firefighter. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the community and develop valuable skills in firefighting and emergency medical response.

• Participate in drills and training sessions to develop skills in firefighting, emergency medical response, and hazardous materials response.
• Respond to emergency calls and perform fire suppression, emergency medical assistance, and general public assistance duties.
• Operate fire apparatus and equipment, including fire hoses, ladders, and generators.
• Perform rescue, ventilation, overhaul, salvage, and clean-up activities at fire scenes.
• Respond to emergency and non-emergency medical calls and provide medical interventions within guidelines of certification.
• May operate fire apparatus under general supervision, as training allows.

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Possess a valid driver's license and safe driving record.
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background check.
• Vision sufficient to distinguish objects in limited visibility; to read small print, computer screens, and printed documents.
• Physically able to perform duties described and ability to pass a medical evaluation.
• Ability to obtain NFPA/DPSST Firefighter I and NFPA/DPSST Wildland Interface Firefighter certifications.
• Availability to attend a majority (minimum 75%) of the drills that occur most Wednesday nights from 7 p.m. - 10 p.m.; be able to respond, once qualified, to a minimum of 25% of emergency call outs.

Travel to emergency scenes and/or firefighting incidents; exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, gases, extreme heat, hazardous materials; work at heights on ladders; work with water.

Those interested in being considered must complete the online application. Applicants meeting the minimum qualifications will be invited to participate in a physical ability test (pass/fail). Applicants passing the physical ability test will be invited to a panel interview. An offer of a volunteer firefighter position will be contingent upon verification of an acceptable background check which includes criminal, sex offender, motor vehicle records checks, drug screen, and a medical evaluation.
