The HVAC Specialist is responsible for executing proficient mechanical maintenance tasks related to the assessment, repair, installation, and modification of air purification systems, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration apparatus, along with associated equipment and facilities. This role also encompasses preventive maintenance and routine servicing of these systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate HVAC expertise, including but not limited to refrigerant control systems, electric motors (both three-phase and single-phase), and motor control devices such as contactors, starters, relays, disconnects, and thermostats.
- Collaborate effectively with fellow mechanics, technicians, and tradespeople.
- Utilize a range of hand and power tools, welding equipment, vacuum pumps, and testing apparatus pertinent to the trade.
- Ensure all tools and equipment are maintained in optimal and safe working condition, while also managing parts and tool inventory.
- Carry out additional tasks as assigned.
- Maintain consistent attendance.
- Comprehend fundamental electrical principles, including AC and DC currents, and single-phase and three-phase circuits up to 480 volts.
- Possess knowledge of basic troubleshooting techniques for electrical circuits, with the ability to utilize multimeters and interpret current and resistance readings.
- Exhibit strong communication skills.
- Hold an EPA universal certification.
- Possess basic hand tools, refrigerant gauges, and a CAT III 1000 volt multimeter.
- Preferably have a minimum of two years of relevant craft experience.
- Ability to drive and work collaboratively with others.
- Availability to be on call for at least one week each month.
