Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at Albuquerque Public Schools. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with diverse needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that cater to the unique needs and abilities of students.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and other support staff to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to student support.
  • Provide direct instruction, accommodations, and modifications to students with special needs, ensuring they have equal access to the curriculum.
  • Assess student progress, adjust instruction, and communicate regularly with parents and guardians to ensure student success.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, progress monitoring, and other related activities to ensure students receive the support they need.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • New Mexico teaching certificate endorsed in Special Education.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities, while maintaining a focus on student needs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with students with diverse abilities and needs.
  • Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Ability to use technology to support instruction and communication.
