Position Overview: At Houston Methodist Cypress Hospital, the Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant (RTA) plays a crucial role within the direct patient care team, delivering therapeutic interventions under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute routine rehabilitation treatments and procedures ranging from basic to moderate complexity as outlined in the care plan.
  • Assist in related patient care support tasks, collaborating with team members to monitor and enhance patient throughput and overall experience.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to fellow RTAs, Technicians, and students, fostering skill development and confidence.
  • Deliver exceptional patient care while adhering to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure optimal patient safety and outcomes.

Team Collaboration: Actively engage with all members of the patient care team, effectively communicating and documenting relevant patient care information.

Patient Education: Educate patients, family members, or caregivers about the treatment plan and implement programs as directed by the supervising Physical Therapist.

Quality and Safety: Monitor patient progress, adjusting treatment as permitted by the care plan, and collaborate with healthcare staff on modifications to treatment processes.

Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient procedures and ensure all rehabilitation equipment is in safe working order.

Professional Development: Participate in departmental projects and activities aimed at staff development and service expansion, while seeking opportunities for personal growth in the field of rehabilitation therapy.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited education program for Physical Therapist Assistants.
  • Preferred 2 years of experience as a Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant; new graduates may be considered.
  • Required licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant and Basic Life Support certification.

Skills and Abilities: Demonstrate the necessary skills to perform assigned duties safely, with effective communication skills to interact with patients and healthcare professionals.
