Position Overview
The Capital Equipment Project Engineer plays a crucial role in applications engineering, which encompasses the design, definition, and implementation of system requirements. This position involves analyzing and testing company products to develop tailored system solutions that align with customer specifications. Responsibilities include conducting feasibility assessments and managing process development projects to fulfill customer needs. The engineer will oversee the creation of bills of materials, system diagrams, and manage system orders from quotation through to installation. This role addresses a variety of challenges and contributes to the resolution of moderately complex project issues. The Capital Equipment Project Engineer will work collaboratively and represent the team locally, while also coordinating with the broader organization for site-specific tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with customers to finalize project definitions and scopes of work.
  • Promote Nordson's standard system solutions by leveraging successful implementations.
  • Assist in sales and customer review processes.
  • Support the development of new system quotes that clearly outline deliverables to meet application requirements.
  • Utilize established standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure timely communication with customers.
  • Contribute to the creation of comprehensive and accurate system documentation.
  • Adhere to standard work practices established for application engineering.
  • Perform engineering tasks necessary to deliver systems that meet or exceed application requirements.
  • Apply fundamental engineering principles and problem-solving methods.
  • Innovate new solutions and applications.
  • Conduct pre-installation meetings and installation activities as required.
  • Take full ownership of projects, ensuring customer timelines and performance standards are met, which may involve overtime and travel.
  • Lead or participate in initiatives aimed at process and margin improvement for system solutions.
  • Represent the Application Engineering team at the local site.
  • Coordinate with the larger Application Engineering organization for site-specific tasks.
  • Act as a liaison for regional programs and initiatives within the Planning organization.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required.
  • In lieu of a degree, 7 years of equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Proficiency in disciplined engineering principles and practices is essential.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in project management; PMP certification is advantageous.
  • Strong time management abilities.
  • Background in product and process development.
  • Knowledge of risk management and root cause analysis.
  • Exceptional technical writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Aptitude for tackling moderate scope problems requiring advanced statistical analysis.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites, both domestically and internationally.
  • Experience with fluid delivery systems is preferred.
  • Ability to understand and embody Nordson's values and competencies.
Working Conditions
To successfully perform this role, individuals must meet essential duties satisfactorily. Regular activities include sitting, using hands for tasks, and communicating verbally. Occasional standing, walking, and reaching may be required. Close vision is necessary, and the noise level is typically moderate.

Travel Requirements
Estimated travel is approximately 25%.
