FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Position Summary:
Under close supervision, the Cashier is responsible for processing payments from customers or employees for goods or services. This includes recording amounts received, calculating bills, and issuing receipts or tickets. The Cashier will also handle cash refunds and provide operational support, which encompasses setup, maintenance of supplies, and assisting in cleanup tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operate a cash register or equivalent, receiving payments in cash, checks, or charges, while ensuring accurate change is given and receipts are issued.
2. Ensure precise scanning of items for sale and maintain the highest level of customer service.
3. Uphold security protocols for cash handling at all times.
4. Prepare service areas before meals and assist in cleaning duties post-service.
5. Stock beverage areas and assist in maintaining the dining environment.
6. Attend training sessions related to food safety and customer service.
7. Report any accidents or injuries promptly.
8. Participate in safety meetings and adhere to all safety protocols.
9. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to follow structured processes and instructions.
- Proficient in reading and writing in English.
- Basic mathematical skills for cash handling and transaction reconciliation.
- Familiarity with personal computers and electronic cash handling equipment.
- Flexibility in work schedule and task assignments.
- Strong customer service skills and ability to work collaboratively.
Physical Requirements:
Employees must be able to perform the following physical tasks:
- Standing and walking for extended periods.
- Bending, kneeling, and reaching as needed.
- Lifting or moving items weighing up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Work Environment:
Most duties are performed indoors in a cafeteria setting with exposure to various background noises from equipment and customers.
