Position Overview / Key Responsibilities:

Primary Role:
Under the supervision of the Principal and the Director of Student Services, instruct students with diverse disabilities.

Core Duties:
Deliver a comprehensive academic curriculum to students in a specialized classroom setting.

Design and implement individualized and group behavior management strategies.

Create and execute tailored educational plans in collaboration with parents and interdisciplinary team members.

Facilitate meaningful integration experiences for students.

Provide personalized instruction in essential areas including pre-academic skills, language development, self-help, motor skills, vocational training, and social skills as necessary.

Collaborate with other professionals involved in the educational process for students with disabilities, including Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Speech Therapists, Psychologists, and general education teachers.

Modify educational schedules on an individual basis to align with therapy sessions and general classroom activities.

Engage in effective communication with parents.

Evaluate, adapt, and apply educational methodologies and resources to cater to the unique needs of each student.

Train and supervise Special Education Assistants assigned to the program.

Actively participate as a member of the IEP Team in:

- Assessing and planning educational activities for enrolled students.

- Curriculum development and instructional strategies.

- Establishing classroom procedures and promoting appropriate student behavior.

- Implementing child guidance principles and practices tailored to students with special needs.

- Addressing challenges and concerns related to students with disabilities.

- Developing curriculum and lesson plans aligned with IEP objectives.

- Operating specialized equipment related to special education.

- Understanding terminology pertinent to special education programs.

- Applying behavior modification techniques.

Qualifications:
Ability to effectively instruct special education students in individualized tasks to meet IEP objectives.
Demonstrate understanding and empathy towards children with special needs.
Proficient in operating and demonstrating the use of educational materials and equipment.
Monitor and assess student progress effectively.
Provide training and direction to support staff.
Establish and maintain productive working relationships with colleagues and families.
Maintain accurate records and prepare necessary reports.
Compile and verify data for reporting purposes.
Stay informed about program regulations, requirements, and best practices.
Analyze situations accurately and implement effective solutions.
Work independently with minimal supervision.
Adhere to schedules and deadlines.
Communicate proficiently in both oral and written forms.
