Water Safety Instructor

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a Water Safety Instructor to join our team at the YMCA of the USA. As a key member of our aquatics program, you will be responsible for providing swimming instruction to people of all ages and skill levels.

**Responsibilities:**

  • Provide swimming instruction to students of various ages and ability levels.
  • Maintain constant supervision of students, watch for swimmers needing assistance, and aid swimmers when necessary to ensure a positive learning environment.
  • Know, understand, and consistently communicate policies and procedures for the pool and whirlpool.
  • Understand the YMCA Swim Lessons program, including swimming levels and skills taught for each level. Evaluate students and recommend placement in the correct skill level.

**Requirements and Qualifications:**

  • Minimum age of 16.
  • Completed YMCA Swim Instructor Skills Verification or ability to complete within first 90 days.
  • Patience and ability to communicate with all ages and levels of swimmers.
  • Demonstrated ability to swim in shallow and deep water, and tread water (Stage 4 level swimming skill).
  • Dedicated to member safety and the mission and philosophy of the YMCA.

Salary: $30,000 - $40,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
