Position Overview
As a key member of the finance team, the Staff Accountant 2 is responsible for maintaining accounting systems, including payroll administration, reconciliation, journal entries, and general ledger management. This role involves monitoring labor expenditure trends and ensuring compliance with all applicable payroll and labor laws at the federal, state, and local levels. The position also requires the development of monthly financial reports detailing revenues and expenditures for various projects, as well as providing accurate records of assets, liabilities, and other financial transactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Process, review, and reconcile payroll for approximately 400 employees on a bi-weekly basis using UKG.
- Examine timecards and accurately post daily labor costs to SAP.
- Journalize activities related to the general ledger.
- Reconcile monthly bank accounts.
- Assist in balancing books, preparing profit and loss statements, and balance sheet reports.
- Address and investigate accounting inquiries from various departments.
- Support internal auditing efforts by providing necessary records and reports.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts on a monthly and quarterly basis.
Qualifications
To excel in this role, candidates should possess a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, or an associate degree with equivalent experience. A minimum of two years of relevant experience is required, along with intermediate proficiency in Excel. Familiarity with SAP is preferred, and holders of CPP or FPC credentials are highly regarded.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
The role requires regular sitting, talking, and hearing, with occasional standing and walking. Employees may need to lift or move up to 10 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision capabilities.
Employees may encounter moderate noise levels and occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts.
