Assistant Professor

We are seeking an exceptional candidate to join our faculty as an Assistant Professor in Health Equity at the University of California, San Diego. This is a tenure-track position that will contribute to our mission of advancing health equity and promoting social justice in public health.
The successful candidate will have a strong research focus on African American communities and the Black Diaspora, with a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. They will be expected to design and teach an undergraduate course that aligns with the Black Diaspora and African American Studies program, conduct research advancing health for African American communities and the Black Diaspora, and engage in interdisciplinary conversations and scholarship across UC San Diego disciplines.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
* Conducting research focused on African American communities and the Black Diaspora
* Designing and teaching an undergraduate course that aligns with the Black Diaspora and African American Studies program
* Engaging in interdisciplinary conversations and scholarship across UC San Diego disciplines
* Contributing to the development of the Health Equity and Justice program
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have:
* A PhD, DrPH, or related doctoral degree
* Demonstrated experience in teaching undergraduate or graduate courses in public health disciplines
* Research experience related to factors of race/ethnicity and health
* Strong publications appropriate for the Assistant rank level of appointment
Preferred Qualifications
The successful candidate will have:
* Previous experiences teaching, mentoring, and supporting the advancement of underrepresented racial minority students
* A record of service activities that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion
* Research, teaching, and service that advance anti-racism, anti-oppression, equity, and justice in Public Health
