We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer to join our team at Westlake Services. As a key member of our maintenance group, you will be responsible for designing, specifying, and maintaining electrical and instrumentation systems in a chemical plant environment.
Key Responsibilities- Design and Specification: Design, size, and specify electrical, instruments, and control equipment/systems to energize, indicate, measure, and control specific aspects of a production process and operating plant.
- Project Management: Establish design criteria, prepare procurement specifications, evaluate bids, and manage contracts for electrical, instrument, and control equipment.
- Maintenance and Repairs: Plan maintenance repairs, and installations of electrical and instrument equipment.
- Quality Control: Check documents and drawings produced by other engineers and drafting personnel.
- Procurement and Logistics: Initiates procurement of materials and communicates with purchasing, vendors, and stores to control expediting and receiving of materials.
- Vendor Management: Check vendor supplied drawings and/or information and coordinate transfer into project drawings.
- Field Support: Checkout vendor provided equipment at vendor site and/or jobsite and field pre-commissioning and start-up support.
- Compliance and Safety: Work within Company policy and in compliment with NFPA 70E and OSHA Safety rules.
- Support and Collaboration: Support supervisors and craftsmen with routine troubleshooting and repairs as required to maintain normal plant operations.
- Continuous Improvement: Supports Company goals of continuous improvement and operational excellence at strategic and tactical levels including reviewing opportunities for improvement or communicating ideas to management, as well as active participation on project teams.
- Education: Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Electrical, Instrumentation, Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering college or university.
- Experience: 5 to 10+ years of experience in heavy industrial Electrical and I&C engineering design, checkout, and commissioning.
- Skills: Knowledge and Application of all electrical distribution and instrumentation related standards, codes, and regulations; working knowledge of DCS, PLC, and SCADA/HMI control system software, hardware, and architecture; working knowledge of databases; working knowledge of Instrument and Electrical software tools is desirable.
- Personal Qualities: Excellent communication skills and be capable of interacting with other engineering disciplines, craftsmen, and frontline supervisors.
The noise level in the work environment is sometimes moderate when working in an office, however, some of the work may be required in the operating units which mandates usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. During active remediation additional requirements may include fit testing for respiratory equipment, chemical suits, face shields, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs. Moderate travel (5-10%) may be required in the performance of duties.
