LaAmistad is seeking a skilled and experienced Transportation Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our transportation department, you will be responsible for safely transporting students to and from our afterschool programs.
Key Responsibilities- Transportation Operations: Operate a bus safely and efficiently to transport passengers to various destinations, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations while driving.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Inspect the bus before and after each trip to ensure it is in good working condition, and maintain a clean and orderly bus interior.
- Customer Service: Assist passengers with boarding and exiting the bus as needed, and communicate with parents and staff as required to coordinate routes and schedules.
- Reporting and Compliance: Report any accidents, incidents, or mechanical problems to the appropriate authorities immediately, and attend training sessions and meetings as required.
- Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent, and prior experience as a bus driver preferred.
- Licenses and Certifications: Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with passenger endorsement, and ability to pass a drug and alcohol test.
- Skills and Abilities: Excellent driving skills and knowledge of traffic laws and regulations, good communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
The Transportation Specialist will be required to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent interaction with students, parents, and staff. The position requires the physical mobility to sit or walk for moderate periods of time, and to occasionally carry or lift objects weighing up to 30 pounds.
