Role Expectations:


We are looking for a dynamic engineering leader with a background in roadway engineering, project oversight, team management, and business operations.

This position entails the design and preparation of submissions related to highway and arterial roadway engineering, intricate intersection design, local roadway planning, site development, bridge rehabilitation, traffic management, and drainage design for various Department of Transportation agencies.


Main Duties (additional tasks may apply):
Project Oversight


Manage engineering projects related to the planning and design of transportation infrastructures such as highways, arterial roads, intersections, and drainage systems. Collaborate with a design team to create plans, specifications, cost estimates, and timelines for construction projects. Responsibilities include overseeing engineering reports, calculations, and technical documentation. Regular client interaction and effective communication skills are essential.


Guide project delivery by directing team members in completing technical tasks related to roadway, traffic, drainage, and site design projects. Address inquiries and review construction documents during project execution.

Team Leadership

Mentor and develop team members

Conduct regular meetings with team members

Manage labor projections for the team

Facilitate resource allocation for projects

Monitor project budgets

Quality Assurance/Quality Control – Collaborate with team members to ensure adherence to quality standards.

Establish contingency plans and identify successors for team roles, providing mentorship as needed.

Maintain effective communication with Division Leaders and other management personnel.

Employee Development


Create a work environment that attracts and retains top talent, offering development opportunities, addressing performance issues, and fostering positive morale.

Financial Management


Lead project management efforts to meet client expectations, ensuring quality projects are completed on time and within budget.

Collaborate with team members on project performance.

Engage with Business Managers for project meetings and review at-risk projects.

Optimize team utilization and address any issues with team members.

Business Development

Build and maintain client relationships

Lead proposals and project pursuits.

Participate in client service meetings and provide necessary support.

Coordinate with other offices and regions as needed.

Work with Division Leaders to ensure optimal workload distribution across teams.

Qualifications:

What You Bring:
A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required.


Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and various engineering software tools relevant to the discipline, such as AutoCAD, MicroStation/GeoPak, In Roads, Land Desktop, and Civil 3D.

Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer is preferred.

Demonstrated ability to engage diverse perspectives in problem-solving and foster a culture of reciprocal learning among team members.

Preferred qualifications include:

At least 8 years of relevant design experience.

Familiarity with design standards of various DOTs.

Proven team management capabilities.
