Position Summary

At the forefront of our healthcare system, the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory is equipped with cutting-edge technology to perform a wide range of advanced procedures. Our team gains extensive experience in treating coronary, peripheral, and structural heart diseases, including hybrid structural and aortic interventions.

As a Cardiac Imaging Technologist, you will be an essential member of our Cath Lab team, delivering diagnostic imaging services that assist our medical professionals in diagnosing and managing various health conditions.

What We Offer

On-Call Responsibilities:

Availability for 8-10 days of on-call duty within a 6-week period, including weekends, with a 40-minute response time for emergencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess patients' conditions and identify their specific needs based on age and medical history.
  • Assist in gathering patient history and entering data into the Hemodynamic system and/or Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
  • Prepare patients by attaching necessary leads, defibrillator pads, and blood pressure cuffs, and setting up sterile environments.
  • Support the physician during procedures while ensuring adherence to sterile protocols and managing the availability of supplies and equipment.
  • Uphold all responsibilities related to Radiation Safety and Protection.

Additional Duties

  • Carry out other assigned tasks as necessary.
  • Adhere to all institutional policies and standards.
  • Refer to departmental documentation for specific duties during orientation.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations for maintaining Protected Health Information (PHI) for patients, including annual training and adherence to the UH Code of Conduct.

Qualifications

Education
  • Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program or Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist Program (Required).
Experience
  • Preferred experience with pacemaker insertions.
  • Scrubbing in may be required for adult settings, preferred for pediatric settings.
  • Experience in Special Procedures is preferred.
  • Background in Interventional Radiology, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, or Electrophysiology Lab is preferred.
  • Completion of an Advanced EKG recognition course within the first year of employment (Required).
Skills and Abilities
  • Proficiency in arrhythmia recognition is preferred.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team is essential.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with Hemodynamic Monitoring are required.
  • Experience with various equipment, including power injectors and computers, is required.
  • Knowledge of radiation safety QA is required.
  • Understanding of sterile procedure techniques and infection control is required.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Registered Technologist Radiation Therapy (ARRT-T) is required, or
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification is required, and
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within one year is required.
  • CCI equivalent is required.
  • Licensure in the State of Ohio is required.
  • Certification in a cardiovascular review course is preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent standing, walking, and lifting (up to 50 lbs).
  • Occasional climbing and balancing.
  • Constant handling, talking, hearing, and eye/hand/foot coordination.
Travel Requirements
  • Minimal travel (10%).
