Position Overview

The Nutrition Consultant is responsible for delivering comprehensive nutritional care to patients as required.

This role ensures that the dietary needs of each patient are adequately addressed and that all relevant documentation regarding their nutritional health is thorough and precise.

The consultant will plan and execute initiatives related to patient nutrition care, adhering to the standards set forth by Aramark, regulatory bodies, and client expectations.

Building and maintaining effective interdisciplinary relationships is crucial to providing a cohesive approach to patient care.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform nutrition assessments for the designated patient population.
  • Develop and implement nutrition intervention plans in line with the Nutrition Care Process.
  • Conduct rounds to enhance patient satisfaction.
  • Identify educational needs and potential barriers to learning.
  • Offer nutrition counseling for individuals and groups, adapting teaching methods to meet diverse patient needs.
  • Employ assessment and evaluation techniques that reflect the varied requirements of different age groups, as well as cultural, religious, and ethnic considerations.
  • Assess the achievement of learning objectives by patients and/or their families.
  • Provide appropriate follow-ups based on treatment goals, referring patients to outpatient counseling, community resources, or home health services as necessary.
  • Ensure strong operational performance by adhering to Aramark standards and regulatory guidelines, continuously monitoring operations, and implementing necessary action plans to optimize nutrition care and meal service.
  • Collaborate effectively with medical staff and food and nutrition services to ensure compliance with prescribed nutrition care orders.
  • Deliver education that meets food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation summarizing the nutrition care plan in patients' medical records, including assessments, diagnoses, plans, implementations, and progress towards goals.
  • Adhere to clinical productivity standards and maintain accurate records of daily clinical activities, including scheduling and billing information.
  • Demonstrate accountability for the proper handling of patients' protected health information.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience is required.
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with coursework recognized by the appropriate nutrition and dietetics agencies is necessary.
  • Must obtain and maintain relevant certifications, registrations, licenses, and continuing education as mandated by local accredited agencies.
  • Formal eligibility to practice dietetics in the applicable geographic area is required.

Conditions of employment may involve working in busy hospital and outpatient environments, including patient rooms and kitchen areas.
