Exception Item Resolution Specialist

The Exception Item Processing Specialist plays a critical role in providing operational support and services to Retail, Commercial, Treasury Management, and Wealth clients. This position requires a high level of expertise in electronic funds transfer system automation, NACHA and Regulation E laws and regulations, and bank accounting.
Key Responsibilities- Investigate Reg E disputes and process final decision notifications to clients within the required timeframe.
- Monitor international ACH transactions (IAT) for OFAC suspects and escalate, block, or reject transactions as needed.
- Understand loan policies to accurately make and process NSF decisions and process customer correspondence.
- Research and process ACH and check chargebacks as needed.
- Reconcile various General Ledger Accounts to meet defined SLAs.
- Process foreign check collections on a manual cash letter.
- Image, entry correction, and balancing of deposit items.
- Look up Bank of First Deposit for return items.
- Conduct complex research, resolve requests timely, and process disposition of non-posted items accurately for DDA, SAV, and LN.
- Utilize tools that support Zelle processing and disputes, as well as detect fraud in live monitoring.
- Identify fraudulent or forged items and notify the Fraud Department, providing necessary backup documentation, and assist with investigations.
- Process charged-off account recoveries, new start loans, and refund requests.
- High school diploma required; one or more years of banking experience in a research-oriented position with potential customer impact preferred.
- Strong oral and written communication, organizational, and listening skills.
- MS Office tools, including expert knowledge of MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
- Jack Henry Xperience system (preferred).
- Ability to interact effectively with others, demonstrate excellent interpersonal relations, and take more than normal care to mitigate risk and prevent loss to the Bank.
- Maintain confidentiality of customer and bank information.
- Work independently and own customer issues start-to-finish.
- Follow a defined process to prioritize resolution of open items and make suggestions to improve the process, as necessary.
- Maintain visual attention and mental concentration for extended periods of time.
