Key Responsibilities
The role involves conducting stress evaluations and associated tasks for both new and modified designs of Part 23 aircraft structures, while also assisting with various Certification-related activities. This encompasses the examination of engineering schematics, formulating load assessments, and drafting stress documentation in collaboration with the Structural Engineering team and ODA Structures Unit Members who provide necessary approvals.

- Operates under minimal supervision; work should primarily be reviewed for accuracy and alignment with overarching objectives.
- Conduct static strength evaluations and fatigue life assessments utilizing both manual analysis (theoretical approaches) and finite/boundary element analysis modeling for new designs and modifications.
- Execute intricate finite element analysis and modeling at both the aircraft/major assembly level and detailed component level.
- Develop analyses and/or testing protocols and compile final substantiation reports employing contemporary tools.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, service bulletins, and reports for adherence to applicable regulations.
- Prepare FAA-mandated aircraft type certification documentation demonstrating compliance with relevant FAA or Foreign regulations concerning all structural components through analysis or testing.
- Document compliance with applicable regulations governing structural integrity, crash safety, interior item retention, fundamental loads, weight distribution, stress analysis, static and dynamic testing, fatigue analysis/assessment, and design evaluation to substantiate aircraft structures.
- Contribute to the formulation of plans for engineering substantiation initiatives.
- Identify and develop strategies for solutions within established schedule and budget constraints.
- Act as a liaison with representatives beyond the assigned group/area.
- Perform additional related duties as necessary.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not include supervisory responsibilities. May lead continuous improvement initiatives and be tasked with training and assisting other personnel, along with providing cross-functional project management support.
Educational Requirements
A bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering is required, along with a minimum of 10 years of experience in Aerospace Structural Analyses, testing, and design, or equivalent educational background.
Experience Requirements
- In-depth knowledge of aircraft structures, materials, processes, specifications, and certification requirements is essential.
- Familiarity with Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) 21 and 23, related Joint Aviation Requirement (JAR), and Civil Aviation Authority (CAR) 3 is required.
- Comprehensive understanding of Finite Element Analysis is necessary. Experience with Siemen's Femap is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in FORTRAN, Visual Basic, C++ programming, and experience in MRB is preferred.
- Designated Engineering Representative (DER) status is preferred, or candidates interested in pursuing DER FAA Authority as a unit member or independently are encouraged to apply.
