Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Scrub Tech to join our team at United Surgical Partners International Inc (USPI). As a key member of our operating room team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth execution of surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and maintain a sterile environment throughout the procedure.
  • Establish and maintain a sterile field during surgical procedures, ensuring the sterility of all supplies and instruments.
  • Assist the circulating nurse and surgical team in maintaining a sterile environment and gathering necessary surgical supplies and equipment.
  • Participate in the sponge, needle, and instrument count pre-operatively and intra-operatively with the circulating nurse.
  • Gown and glove surgeons and assistants as needed.
  • Assist in keeping physician preference cards accurate and up-to-date.
  • Retain all specimens to be sent to pathology, confirming the source and name of the specimen with the surgeon.
  • Transport all surgical equipment to the appropriate cleaning areas and assist in the cleaning and reprocessing of instrument sets.
  • Interact effectively with patients, visitors, and other healthcare team members, maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor.
  • Use Standard Universal Precautions, appropriate hand hygiene, personal protective equipment, and safe practices to ensure personal safety and a safe environment.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness drills and follow all equipment and safety guidelines.
  • Attend in-services, conferences, and meetings as required to stay up-to-date on the latest procedures and best practices.
  • Communicate effectively with visitors, physicians, and their office staffs, patients, and employees, maintaining patient, physician, and employee privacy and confidentiality.
  • Maintain designated certifications, such as CPR, as offered by the center.
  • Act in accordance with the vision, mission, and business philosophy of USPI.
  • Comply with Policies and Procedures, and adhere to safety guidelines to ensure a safe work and patient care environment.
