Parkridge Medical Center is seeking a skilled Travel Registered Nurse to join our Progressive Care Unit team. As a Travel RN, you will provide high-quality patient care and support to our patients and staff.
Responsibilities- Provide individualized care to medical, cardiac, and surgical patients requiring intermediate care, including those with complex conditions such as sepsis, stroke, and heart failure.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans, ensuring seamless transitions and optimal patient outcomes.
- Manage and coordinate patient care activities, including medication administration, wound care, and vital sign monitoring.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure accurate and timely information exchange.
- Participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and satisfaction.
- Cardiac/telemetry experience and PCU and/or critical care experience required.
- Advanced skills in IV insertion, chest tube management, DHT insertion/management, tracheostomy experience, CVC management, EKG, Foley management, and early patient mobility.
- Procedures performed on unit include Foley placement, IV insertion, wound vac management, DKA management, EKGs, DHT/NG placement, patient ambulation, and ADLs.
- Unit staffing includes a dayshift unit secretary and 2-3 PCTs depending on census, with nightshift having 2-3 PCTs depending on census.
- Equipment includes Welch Allyn dynamaps, Phillips telemetry, Phillips MP2, Pyxis, Alaris pumps, Hill-Rom beds, iMobile devices, and MobiLab.
- Documentation system is Meditech.
- Floating policy requires Travel RNs to float first, with rotation and oldest float date determining float assignments.
