Summer Internship Opportunity

As a summer intern at Simmons Foods, you will have the chance to work on real-world projects that can have a lasting impact on the organization. This internship program encourages cross-functional relationships with other departments and personal growth.

The project is a solution-seeking, challenging, real-day problem that not only fits the needs of your department/facility but also allows you to use your skills relating to your major of study. At the end of the summer, you will present your project work to the team, senior leaders, and others.

1. Create a continuous improvement culture by developing and implementing processes to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
2. Accomplish quality performance that meets or exceeds all line, department, facility, company, and USDA/FDA guidelines or grading process for a total quality program and customer relations.
3. Participate as a member of the team by participating in ongoing development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies.
4. Attend appropriate team meetings and foster strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues.
5. Accept responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness and work with the team to resolve issues.
6. Be familiar with Simmons' established operating systems and understand the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position's role in support of these systems.

Must be able to work on feet for multiple hours, work in various temperatures, and the ability to lift a minimum of 10 pounds. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by visiting facility. Depending on assignment, may require travel.

Knowledge of business and management principles. Willingness to lead, take charge, and offer opinions and direction. Ability to use computers and computer programs. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite. Preferred experience in manufacturing or poultry.

In process of completing a degree program for a Bachelor's, Master's, and/or Doctorate Degree in related field of position requirement.
