Logistics Routing Supervisor

  • Ensure optimal delivery reliability to clients by assessing current routes and enhancing efficiencies.
  • Initiate and oversee routing initiatives aimed at minimizing total miles, improving punctuality, optimizing depot locations, and facilitating cross-divisional transfers.
  • Monitor and promote critical routing metrics: On-Time Delivery, Cases per Truck per Mile per Stop, and Goal Distance.
  • Guarantee that routes are planned and organized in a timely, precise, and efficient manner.
  • Anticipate, evaluate, and resolve route-related issues, devising cost-effective and compliant solutions, and take action to implement them.
  • Generate and/or evaluate various reports on a daily and/or weekly basis.
Collaborate closely with sales and warehouse teams to assess delivery feasibility.

  • Proactively analyze service and cost improvement opportunities by identifying strategic depot locations.
  • Organize and lead routing meetings with the sales leadership team to review and align on delivery timeframes and route optimization.
  • Accountable for achieving fuel and mileage savings through improved goal distance.
  • Manage the support team for routers.
  • Guide, consult, communicate, instruct, and oversee direct-reporting employees in accordance with departmental and company policies and procedures. Further develop routers by facilitating or arranging for timely and relevant training.
  • Act as a change leader within the routing department to enhance operational functions.
  • Maintain transparency in processes and decision-making. Strategically plan for future changes or enhancements within the department.
  • Take ownership of the routing department and provide leadership to team members through recognition, encouragement, and rewards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Training:
High School Diploma or GED required; four-year college degree preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Proficient computer skills, inventory management, supervisory/leadership capabilities, familiarity with OSHA, DOT, and other regulatory standards. Ability to communicate effectively with all associates/departments within the organization. Capability to manage daily operations. Must be able to utilize, or learn to utilize, all equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) such as OmniTracs, Roadnet, Mainframe, Tandem, and tools necessary for the role. Must understand and/or be able to learn MSDS information regarding all materials used in the scope of work.

Related Experience:
Minimum of 3 years in a transportation/operations supervisory role and 3 years of routing experience, with at least 1 year in a high-volume shipping environment required.

Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required (i.e., Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Access), and proficiency in routing software required. Effective communication and teamwork skills are essential.

The expected compensation for this role is between $75,000 and $90,000. This position is also eligible for an annual incentive plan bonus.
