Air Medical Pilot

Job Summary

As a Helicopter Pilot with Air Methods, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe transportation of medical crew and patients to receiving hospitals within an assigned operational area. This role requires a high level of expertise and attention to detail, with a focus on compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM), and Air Methods policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Flight Operations: Operate Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner, completing pre-flight checks and ensuring the aircraft is airworthy.
  • Safety and Compliance: Maintain thorough knowledge of Air Methods policies and procedures, as well as Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) and Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM).
  • Communication: Participate in regular meetings and activities, and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues, EMS representatives, hospitals, and the public.
  • Documentation: Complete required documentation, including flight logs and other records.
Requirements
  • Education: Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, with two to five years of related experience and/or training.
  • Certifications: Instrument rating (for category and class of aircraft), Fixed wing multiengine rating (for twin-engine aircraft), Commercial single-engine land rating (for single-engine aircraft), and First or Second Class FAA Medical certificate.
  • Experience: 2500 total flight hours, with a minimum of 2000 flight hours in category, 1000 hours PIC in category, 500 hours of rotor wing turbine time, and 500 hours of cross-country flight time.
