Job Title: Manager, Software Test Engineering

Join Huntington Ingalls Industries, a leading defense technology solutions provider, as a Manager, Software Test Engineering. In this role, you will lead a team of software test engineers to ensure the quality and reliability of our software systems.

About the Role:

This is a first-line management position responsible for providing guidance, delegating work assignments, and overseeing the priorities and direction of the team. You will work closely with the software development team, product and project management, and quality assurance teams to ensure seamless software development lifecycles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain standards for software systems quality operating methods, processes, and procedures.
  • Conduct evaluations of software systems activities, including requirements, design, development, documentation, integration, test, verification, and validation.
  • Define measures to ensure product quality and develop operating criteria to implement the software quality program.
  • Review software systems design, change specifications, and plans against contractual and/or process requirements.
  • Provide or direct verification and validation of software system requirements, traceability, and testability.
Requirements:
  • 4 years of relevant progressive experience with a Bachelor's degree in a related field, or 2 years of experience with a Master's degree, or 8 years of experience with a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-4 years of experience in software testing/development in a Linux command line environment.
  • 1-2 years of experience leading a software development engineer test team.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a close team environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US level Secret clearance.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Software, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 2-4 years of experience in leading test and test automation teams, network communication protocols, scripting, Agile software development methodology, and active US level Secret clearance.
