Job Title: RN School Nurse

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team as a School Nurse. As a School Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and education to students in a school setting.

Job Summary:

The School Nurse will assume responsibility and accountability for the application of the nursing process and the delivery of student/client care and/or contracted services in a school setting. The School Nurse may also be in a supervisory position within the contracted services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilize the nursing process to plan, implement, and evaluate student's care needs
  • Demonstrate on each assignment the provision of skill nursing care in accordance with prescribed orders/IHP
  • Perform interventions, treatments, and medications administration according to the identified priorities as outlined in the IHP
  • Monitor and document the effectiveness of interventions, treatments, and medications
  • Complete documentation per client expectations
  • Coordinate and facilitate services as requested between the school, local health agencies, and other community resources to meet the needs of the student
  • Communicate with the school district personnel about student's plan of care/IHP
  • Notify District School Nurse/Amergis Supervisor/Parent/Physician as outlined in the IHP regarding the following:
    • Changes in condition of student
    • Physician notification to obtain necessary orders
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited registered, practical, or vocational nursing program
  • Licensed as a Licensed Practical, Licensed Vocational, or Registered Nurse in state(s) where practicing
  • One year of professional experience, preferred
  • Complies with accepted professional standard and practice
  • Willingness to participate in skill advancement, if applicable
  • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program
  • Current CPR
  • PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
  • Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language may be required
  • Computer proficiency required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
