Kitchen Steward

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Kitchen Steward to join our team at UPMC. As a Kitchen Steward, you will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of housekeeping and sanitation in our production, service, dining, and storage areas. You will work closely with our culinary team to ensure that our facilities are always inspection-ready and meet the Health Department guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Clean and sanitize pots, pans, utensils, and other minor equipment routinely used in the kitchen following established procedures.

• Collect and remove trash from all areas of the operation following established procedures. Adhere to recycling guidelines.

• Clean and maintain floors and walls in designated food service areas following established procedures.

• Clean and sanitize dishes and related service ware following established procedures.

• Consistently adhere to SDS information related to the proper and safe use of chemicals in the workplace.

• Assist in light food preparation as directed by manager or chef on duty.

• Assist in serving food and beverages to the residents in the dining room.

• Deliver meals to residents' apartments when requested.

• Clean large equipment as assigned, following established procedures.

• Monitor and record temperatures according to operation guidelines.

• Maintain inspection-readiness at all times and follow HACCP procedures while completing job duties.

• Use and maintain equipment according to manufacturer and department guidelines; follow all safety procedures.

• Complete table settings with water, butter, and crackers prior to each meal.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

• Act 34 with renewal.
