Dental Hygienist Job Responsibilities
  • Promote dental health by completing dental prophylaxis, oral cancer screening, and radiographic studies
  • Prepare patients for dental hygiene treatment by welcoming, seating, and draping
  • Provide information to patients and employees by answering questions and requests
  • Maintain instrumentation for dental hygiene treatment by sharpening, sterilizing, and selecting
  • Select materials and equipment for dental hygiene visits by evaluating patients' oral health
  • Complete dental prophylaxis by cleaning deposits and stains from teeth and beneath gum margins
  • Detect disease by completing oral cancer screening, feeling and visually examining gums, and exposing and developing radiographic studies
  • Arrest dental decay by applying fluorides and other cavity-preventing agents
Dental Hygienist Job Requirements
  • Active dental hygiene license in CO
  • Knowledge of dental procedures and terminology
  • Understanding of HIPAA regulations and ability to maintain patient confidentiality
  • Excellent communication skills to educate patients on oral health care practice
