Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Early Childhood Educator to join our team at Northeast Michigan Community Service. As a Preschool Teacher, you will be responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and challenging learning environment for young children. Your primary focus will be on implementing the program curriculum, managing the local program site, and supervising staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Child Growth and Development: Manage the delivery of a quality program to provide a positive, healthy, and safe learning environment that meets the educational and developmental needs of young children.
  • Learning Environment and Curriculum: Plan and implement outcome-based activities in cognitive, social-emotional, physical domains, with an emphasis on language, literacy, math, and science.
  • Child Observation, Record-Keeping, and Assessment: Monitor completion and timely submission of all required records and forms, maintain all required child and administrative records, and prepare necessary reports.
  • Child Health, Safety, and Nutrition: Promote healthy lifestyles in children and families through physical activity, healthy food choices, and positive eating habits.
  • Family and Community Relationships: Assist parents in planning and implementing home activities, work in cooperation with parents and other program staff, and prepare and implement home visits and parent/teacher conferences.
  • Leadership: Serve as immediate supervisor of teaching assistant(s) and classroom support personnel, provide training and on-going supervision, and maintain confidentiality and code of ethics.
Requirements
  • Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education and two years' experience in Head Start or other Early Childhood Program, or Bachelor's Degree or other advanced degree and coursework equivalent to a major in Early Childhood Education with two years' experience in Head Start or other Early Childhood Program.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education is preferred.
