Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team at West Virginia University Hospital, Inc. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing a full range of nuclear medicine diagnostic and therapeutic imaging procedures to provide optimum information for the diagnosis and/or treatment of patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform nuclear medicine diagnostic and therapeutic imaging procedures to provide high-quality images for patient diagnosis and treatment.
  • Plan and execute imaging procedures to produce medical images that meet the quality standards of our department.
  • Minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff in accordance with radiation safety policies and guidelines.
  • Assess patients' needs related to comfort, hygiene, and range of motion and provide support accordingly.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and activities to support progress improvement and team building.
  • Perform as a clinical and/or didactic instructor meeting the quality standards of our radiology education program.
Requirements
  • Current Nuclear Medicine license through the West Virginia Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Technology Board or applicable state licensure.
  • Registration by the ARRT or NMTCB as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to prioritize and deal with a variety of situations simultaneously.
  • Ability to interact positively with patients, families, and members of the Health Care Team.
Working Environment

The work environment for this position will involve exposure to body fluids, human tissues, contagious diseases, and explosive gases. You will also be exposed to ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, as well as cleaning agents and disinfectants.

Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to maintain an expertise in anatomy, physiology, and pathology relative to imaging.
  • Ability to improvise with altered positioning techniques, manipulation of equipment, and accessory devices when routine positioning is compromised.
