AFIT/CE serves as the exclusive provider of professional development courses in civil engineering for the Air Force and associated federal entities.

With an extensive catalog of over 70 courses and seminars, the institution is dedicated to planning, developing, and delivering both in-person and online learning experiences tailored to meet the professional development needs of civil engineering personnel.

Each year, AFIT/CE educates more than 5,500 students, providing courses that range from two days to 12 weeks across various civil engineering disciplines, including technical civil engineering, environmental studies, engineering management, and housing.

As a leader in distance and blended learning, AFIT/CE equips civil engineering professionals with the essential tools, skills, and knowledge required to excel in their field through diverse educational formats.

Key Responsibilities:


- Develop, maintain, and deliver course materials for Civil Engineering Business Information Systems in various instructional formats, including in-person and online.

- Coordinate course schedules, document offerings in compliance with institutional policies, and conduct evaluations post-course delivery.


- Collaborate with course sponsors to assess educational needs and ensure course content is relevant and effective.


- Instruct in a variety of environments, which may include traditional classrooms and online platforms, and may require travel to various locations for curriculum development or instruction.

- Serve as a subject matter expert in Air Force civil engineering business practices and information systems.


- Engage in consultation efforts and participate in workshops, conferences, and technical discussions as directed.


- Deliver course content on civil engineering topics and related business information systems in both live and online settings, including travel to Temporary Duty (TDY) locations.


Subject Matter Expertise:
Familiarity with systems such as BUILDER, PAVER, TRIRIGA, housing management, cost estimation, funds management, and cultural resource management is essential. Additional topics may be required as the field evolves.

Qualifications:

- Clearance: Must possess and maintain eligibility for a Common Access Card (CAC), including successful completion of a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).

- A minimum of 15 years of practical experience in Air Force civil engineering processes, complemented by a relevant Master's degree in Engineering or a related discipline.

- Demonstrated expertise in Air Force civil engineering procedures and Business Information Systems (BIS).

- Proven ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in an educational setting.

- Experience in delivering professional development courses is highly desirable.

Working Conditions:
- May require lifting up to 50 lbs.

- Travel within the designated organizational area may be necessary.

- Some travel may be required for instructional purposes.
