Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale (MHC). As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results, which are essential for patient diagnosis and treatment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform patient testing in assigned areas of the laboratory, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
  • Conduct and maintain quality control and quality assurance for all tests performed, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Operate, troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment in assigned sections, ensuring optimal performance and minimizing downtime.
  • Inventory and order supplies in assigned sections, maintaining a well-stocked and organized laboratory environment.
  • Clean laboratory and equipment, maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Review procedures annually in technical sections as established in the Laboratory QA Plan, staying up-to-date with the latest testing protocols and procedures.
  • Orient new personnel and teach trainees/students, promoting knowledge sharing and skill development within the laboratory team.
  • Collaborate with hospital staff and leadership to ensure testing needs of all patients are met at all times, providing exceptional patient care and service.
  • Document and disclose all analysis errors that occur, maintaining transparency and accountability in laboratory operations.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field.
  • Eligibility to sit for MLT (ASCP) or equivalent certification exam.
  • Certification within 6 months of hire, demonstrating commitment to professional development and excellence in laboratory practice.
  • Availability to work a schedule that includes Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with days off on Wednesday and Thursday.
