X-Ray Technologist Job Description

The X-Ray Technologist is responsible for preparing patients for x-ray procedures, operating x-ray equipment, and ensuring patient safety and comfort.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare patients for radiological procedures, communicate the process, and take x-rays following established procedures.
  • Use and maintain radiation protection and shielding materials.
  • Evaluate and ensure equipment is in working order, reporting malfunctions to the supervisor.
  • Process and enter radiological procedure information into the electronic health record.
  • Evaluate and maintain examination rooms to ensure cleanliness and stock levels.
Requirements:
  • Completion of a course in Radiological Technology approved by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists.
  • Maintenance of certification with the American Registry of Radiological Technologist (AART) and an active Indiana State license.
Working Conditions:

The X-Ray Technologist works in an enclosed space with radiologic equipment, exposed to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and other conditions common to a clinic environment.

Work requires standing for long periods, excessive walking, stooping, bending, stretching, and lifting to help position patients and equipment.
