As a Surgical Physician Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the primary surgeon during various surgical interventions. We are seeking candidates with a minimum of 5 years of surgical assistance experience or those who have successfully completed a Physician Assistant - Surgical Program or Surgical residency. A strong understanding of sterile techniques is essential, along with proficiency in diagnostic testing and the interpretation of results, medications, and current treatment protocols.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct preoperative assessments and physical examinations for patients under the supervision of attending physicians.
  • Document postoperative notes and manage orders for patients in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
  • Respond to inquiries from nursing staff regarding the clinical management of surgical patients, including assessment, diagnosis, and order writing on behalf of the attending physician.
  • Perform specialized clinical procedures as directed by the attending physician.

Work Schedule: Flexible, PRN 8-hour day shifts; availability on weekends is required.

Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an AMA accredited Physician Assistant Master's Degree Program.
  • Possession of an active DC License and NCCPA Certification.
  • Current CDS/DEA licenses.
  • Active PECOS enrollment.
  • BLS Health Care Provider CPR and ACLS certification are mandatory.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Surgical PA is required; experience with robotic surgery is preferred.

Credentialing: Candidates must be fully credentialed by the Johns Hopkins Medicine medical board with staff privileges prior to commencing work.
