Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Faculty member to teach Journalism courses at Lone Star College. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material.

The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Communication or a related field, with 18 graduate hours in Communication or a related area.

The Adjunct Faculty member will be expected to teach at a variety of times and locations, and will be responsible for submitting required college reports and forms in a timely manner.

The successful candidate will be a team player who is committed to academic excellence, exceptional service, and providing a dynamic climate for life-long learning.

The Adjunct Faculty member will be responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Journalism courses at a variety of times and locations
  • Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material
  • Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner
  • Utilize a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines
  • Meet with and advise students either before or after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods
  • Evaluate students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and inform students in a timely manner of their progress
  • Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required
Requirements

  • Master's degree in Communication or a related field, with 18 graduate hours in Communication or a related area
  • Demonstrated leadership skills; Style that emphasizes collaboration, teamwork, and facilitation
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints; Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people
  • Demonstrates interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, course development, and adult learning methodologies including collaborative learning, learning communities and distance learning
  • Commitment to academic excellence, exceptional service and providing a dynamic climate for life-long learning
Salary and Benefits
